Selecting and Updating Multiple Items at Once
Bulk edit lets you select many tasks or issues at once and update them all in a single action — saving time when you need to reassign a team member, change priority across a group of items, or move items to a different sprint.
When to use bulk edit
Bulk edit is useful for:
- Reassigning work when a team member goes on leave — select all their tasks and reassign at once
- Changing sprint when carrying tasks forward after an incomplete sprint
- Setting priority on a batch of newly imported tasks
- Adding tags to a group of related items
- Closing old items at the end of a sprint cleanup
Selecting items
From list views
- Open a Tasks list, Issues list, or Sprint view in list mode.
- Hover over an item row — a checkbox appears on the left.
- Click the checkbox to select that item.
- Repeat for other items, or:
- Click the checkbox in the column header to select all visible items on the current page.
A Bulk Actions bar appears at the bottom of the screen showing how many items are selected.
If you have more items than fit on one page, the "Select all" checkbox selects all items on the current page. To select all items across all pages, look for the "Select all X items" prompt that appears in the bulk actions bar after selecting a page.
Available bulk actions
Once items are selected, the Bulk Actions bar offers the following actions:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Assign | Set the assignee for all selected items (replaces existing assignees) |
| Change status | Set a new status on all selected items |
| Change priority | Set a new priority on all selected items |
| Set sprint | Move all selected items to a different sprint |
| Set epic | Link all selected items to an epic |
| Add tags | Append tags to all selected items |
| Remove tags | Remove specific tags from all selected items |
| Delete | Permanently delete all selected items (admin only) |
Performing a bulk update
- Select the items you want to update (see above).
- In the Bulk Actions bar, click the action you want.
- A modal appears with the relevant options (e.g., an assignee picker, a sprint selector).
- Make your selection.
- Click Apply.
A confirmation message appears: "X items updated."
Bulk delete is permanent and cannot be undone. Only workspace Admins can use this action. Consider setting items to Cancelled status instead of deleting them — this preserves history.
Deselecting items
- Click a checked item's checkbox to deselect it individually.
- Click the header checkbox again to deselect all items.
- Press Escape to clear the selection entirely.
Bulk edit on the Kanban board
The Kanban board does not support checkboxes in the same way as list views. To bulk edit from the board:
- Switch to List view (click the list icon in the toolbar).
- Select your items and perform the bulk action.
- Switch back to board view.
Limitations
- You can select up to 500 items at a time per bulk operation.
- Bulk edit is available in the Tasks list, Issues list, and Sprint list view. It is not available in the Gantt chart.
- Some fields (like actual start/end dates) cannot be bulk-edited as they are set automatically by the system.
